In all twenty four thousand of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets who died during the Second World War are honoured by the memorial. The names of those of the Merchant Navy lost in the sinking of the Laconia are inscribed on the Tower Hill Memorial in London and are reproduced here.
The youngest Merchant Navy victim of the Laconia was sixteen year-old Bell Boy Victor Noel Brown; the oldest sixty-six year-old Able Seaman John Henry Weston. Brothers twenty-two year-old Trimmer Edward Hearity and thirty-two year old Greaser James Hearity both died in the sinking.
